All employees are requested to come to the Department of Human Resources, Employee Records Section, to complete an I-9 and be certified.
Offers of employment are contingent upon the intended employee completing the Form I-9 and providing documents to verify identity and employment eligibility as required by law. The I-9 requires the employee to attest that he/she is a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful Permanent Resident or an alien authorized to work. All new employees will be required to produce documentation to show proof of identity and work authorization in the United States.
If you are an employee, it is your responsibility to make sure that you complete Section One of the form and provide documentation approved by the CSIS. The University cannot specify which of the documents that you must provide, but you must provide documentation as specified by the CSIS on the back of the form.
If you are an employee in the United States on a J-1 visa, you will need to provide a copy of your IAP-66 form; if you are on an F-1 visa, you will need to provide a copy of your I-20 form. Both the IAP-66 and the I-20 can be obtained from the University of Memphis International Office.
