Millington Center

On December 17, 2002, The University of Memphis became the new owner of the former hospital at Naval Support Activity Mid-South in Millington, Tennessee. The transfer of the facility was made official by U.S. Representative John Tanner, who represents the Millington area in Congress.

The renovated six-story hospital and smaller adjacent buildings on 42 acres of land will be used for higher education programs, research laboratories, continuing education, office space and related community service activities. The renovated site will also be used in working with the US Navy, which requires its mid and upper level officers to hold Master's degrees, and encourages all military personnel to pursue higher education.
