Priority Parking Guidelines

Priority parking assignments will be based on the total number of priority points accumulated by each individual. Group priority is based on the following sequence:

  1. Faculty and staff employees - regular - both full and part time. Students - full time. Faculty and staff employees - temporary - both full and part time.
  2. Students - part time.

Priority for regular employees will be based on two factors:

  1. Length of current period of service at The University of Memphis, and
  2. Job title/pay grade of position in employee's home account:
    1. For each year of service, an employee receives one (1) point.
    2. Pay grades will be included as follows:
      1. Hourly - Multiply by 2 points times pay grade level
      2. Exempt - Multiply by 3 points times pay grade level
      3. Faculty - Multiply by 6 points times pay grade level

Faculty pay grades have been assigned as follows:

  • Instructor- F01
  • Asst. Professor - F02
  • Assoc. Professor - F03
  • Professor - F04
  • Assoc. Professor/Chairman - F04
  • Professor/Chairman - F05

Other academic titles have been assigned accordingly. Please contact the Parking Office (901-678-2212) if you need additional information.

Total priority points will be determined by adding the points for an employee's years of service to the points awarded for pay grade level. Where more than one employee has the same number of priority points, highest priority will be given to the employee with the earliest "most recent U of M employment date." Where more than one employee has the same number of points and the same "most recent U of M employment date," highest priority will be given to the employee with the earliest "adjusted State of Tennessee employment date." Any further priority determination necessary will be based on alpha by last name, then first name, then middle initial.
